This morning I woke up at 5:45 am to get ready for breakfast that was being served at 6am. Though we were tired from our long flight, we were all excited to start our first day in Nicaragua. As we entered the kitchen area, we all sat down at two big long tables ready to eat. We had some delicious scrambled eggs, fruit, and bread with orange jelly. After our meal, we packed into a large truck and rode to our destination. It was awesome getting to ride through the city and see their homes and all the people on the street. Once we were at our destination, we took some pictures with the mountains in the background. Then we went to the park to where we would be doing sport’s ministry for the day. We played baseball and soccer with the kids and all the people at the park. It was so much fun to just be with all of them and to have a great time ministering through athletics. Later, during the Bible story time, Meredith and Meghan talked about how Christ has impacted their lives to all the kids. It was so great for us to share Christ’s love with all those kids. We sang their songs and danced with them, just happy to be together. The little kids would just come up to me and all the others asking for us to carry them on our backs. We raced and ran around, laughing and smiling. To see those kids smile, made my heart melt. Though I hardly knew any Spanish in which to communicate with them, that did not hinder us at all from connecting and having a good time. After, playing with the kids we went back to our place where we had rice and beans for lunch. We were all starving and the meal was so satisfying. Then we went back to fields to play pick-up soccer with some of the men’s league teams. Coach Voss, Faith, and Sobey were able to share their testimonies with the men’s teams. Though we were all exhausted from the heat, we all had a great time playing. Constantly, subbing onto the 5 v 5 field really helped. It has been an amazing day so far and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for the rest of our time here!
